Is Stiletto Style Worth Painful Foot Deformity?

USA- New York, NY | Oct 22 2012 | (22:55:00 - EDT)

Love those heels? Wear them all the time? So much so that your feet are starting to look like your heels? What….you say? Stiletto Foot…..it’s a term coined by Dr. Oliver Zong of NYC Footcare in Manhattan. “It refers to a foot that has begun to take on the shape of a stiletto heel. The fore foot becomes triangular in shape just like the front portion of the heels,” says Dr. Zong.

With Stilletto foot there is almost always the presence of a significant bunion deformity, hammertoes (usually all of them), and often a tender-to-the-touch tailors bunion which Dr. Zong affectionately calls the pinky toe bunion.

“That area (pinky toe bunion) often appears red, inflamed, and can be quite painful in shoes along with the pinky toe”, states Dr. Zong. As he often explains it to his patients, “the front of the foot gets smooshed and over time becomes custom-molded to the shape of the shoe. At some point it’s hard to tell the foot from the shoe. What’s needed is a Stiletto-plasty. We need to separate these women from their shoes!”

Correction of the deformities often requires a series of procedures to completely remodel their damaged feet. Procedures to straighten the big toe, eliminate bunions, smooth out pinky bunions, shorten toes, slim feet and/or toes are just some of the elements needed to revamp a stiletto foot into a normal looking foot again. In essence, a complete Foot Facelift, which is the name of the procedure Dr. Zong has given to reconstructing and remodeling an entire forefoot, is necessary to repair the damage.

If you suffer from any foot deformities and are intersted in contacting NYC Footcare, please visit their Website for more information or to schedule an appointment.
