Design Space at Design Miami: Cultural Vessels

USA- Miami Beach, FL | Oct 22 2012 | (23:05:30 - EDT)

For the first time, Design Space Gallery is pleased to announce their participation at Design Miami 2012 and present specially commissioned works by Israeli based designers, Michal Cederbaum and Noam Dover.

From Dec. 5-9, 2012, the gallery will be presenting both contemporary and innovative design-art, limited edition crossing the line between both disciplines. They are proud to present this new exhibition inside the Design On/Site Galleries small-scale yet high-level exhibitions of new work by individual designers presented by design galleries.

Containment: The exhibition is dedicated to vessels and containers, following the designers' on-going research concerning the cultural aspects of designed objects.

Along the history of human civilization, pots, pans, vases, bottles and bowls were made and used in a specific context: materials have always been related to a local environment and climate; production techniques were closely linked to folk wisdom, family traditions and industrial developments; methods of use are associated with social structures and beliefs.

Vessels have always been part of commercial activity, acting as cultural ambassadors and transferring knowledge between civilizations.

Vessels contain, reflect and reveal culture.

They are a manifestation of the link between nature, human needs and the civilized act of “making”.

This body of work includes vessels which evolved in the light of these ideas.

They are produced in limited editions and involve various techniques and methods of production, from hand-made crafts to contemporary technology.
