Innovative Glass Installations for 2012 Olympics

Lasvit, the visionary Czech Republic glass manufacturer will install “Infinity,” an elegant glass lighting sculpture and “Hydrogene Bar,” an illuminated crystal bar, at the Czech House during the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Lasvit is the official crystal partner of the Czech Olympic Team.
Infinity
Inspired by the eternal expanse of the universe and mathematics, glassmaker, Jitka Kamencová Skuhrava designed “Infinity” as an illusion to the oblique symbol. 1,400 hand-blown glass leaves, decorated with linear grooves, form the shape of the letter “S,” creating the impression of the wind gently rustling through the leaves. The 7-meter glass piece will adorn the mezzanine, the public space of the Czech House.
Hydrogene Crystal Bar
The Hydrogene Crystal Bar is constructed out of 4 Arch for Lasvit, Lars Kemper & Peter Olah’s innovative and versatile architectural system of illuminated glass pieces. The flat, intricately textured glass elements are lit by a series of LEDs, and can be combined and rearranged to form a wide range of contemporary interior and exterior constructions as well as lighting design. Vertical, illuminated glass pieces form the rectangular exterior of the bar, and create a gallery of light. A series of simple, pendant-style ceiling lamps hang above, and complement the design of the bar. The textured, luminous surface of these unique, contemporary fittings creates a playful show of light that boasts an incredible depth of radiance. Hydrogene Crystal Bar will be installed in the VIP section of the Czech House.
The Czech Olympic Committee has also commissioned LASVIT to produce glass trophies, gifts for VIP guests and the best athletes at the 2012 Olympic Games.
