Mikser to Hold International Design Competition

The cultural organization Mikser, is pleased to announce that in 2012, the Ghost Project and Young Balkan Designers initiatives are going into production!

Following six years of continuous efforts in discovering and nurturing design talents, Mikser organization is making a big leap forward in bringing young designers’ projects to a real market by launching its own product label Mikser Design with two product lines: Ghost Project and Young Balkan Designers.

The Competition's slogan for 2012: "GET REAL!”, is a call to designers to see social and economic challenges as an inspiration to create solutions which open up new possibilities in our tumultuous times.

Projects which offer innovative, yet rational, solutions to everyday problems will be evaluated according to: innovative features that enhance the quality of contemporary life, ergonomics, rational production costs, and an environmentally friendly production process.

The winning projects in Step 1 of the Competition will become part of the central talent exhibition, Ghost Project, at the Mikser Festival, Southeast Europe's largest regional festival of creativity and innovation, taking place in Belgrade’s creative quartier Savamala, from May 25 to June 2, 2012.

During the Mikser festival, a jury which will be presided by the renowned industrial designer Konstantin Grcic, will select projects to be developed into products by the new independent label Mikser Design.

Designers from  Albania, Austria, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Hungary, Macedonia, Montenegro, Romania, Slovenia and Serbia are eligible for  the regional collection, Young Balkan Designers, while winners from all other countries qualify for the international collection, Ghost Project.

After the Mikser festival exhibition, Young Balkan Designers, made of prototypes selected for the Mikser’s regional collection, will tour the major regional design events and fairs, such as Vienna Design Week, Budapest Design Week, D Day in Zagreb, Sofia Design Week, Skopje Design Week, etc.

The competition is open from the 15th of February to the 31st of March 2012, to all persons aged 35 years or younger, from all over the world. In 2011, the competitions Ghost Project and Young Balkan Designers, received 584 entries from 35 countries.
