Muggles: Own a Piece of Harry Potter History

UK- Little Whinging, Surrey | Aug 21 2012 | (23:09:59 - EDT)

Miraphora Mina and Eduardo Lima, the graphic design duo of the Harry Potter film series this month launch The Printorium, a new venture which explores the rich visual appeal of the iconic films from an artistic perspective to create a series of collectible fine art prints.

After having met on the set of the first "Harry Potter" film in 2001, Mina and Lima together established the visual graphic style of Harry Potter from the outset and have helped inspire joy and wonder with the creation of hundreds of unique graphic prop designs for each of the eight films, including the Marauder’s Map, the Daily Prophet newspaper and many items forWeasleys’ Wizard Wheezes joke shop for wizards.

Over the past twelve months, Mina and Lima have taken a nostalgic journey back through the films series’ graphic prop archives and selected both ‘hero’ and lesser known graphic props to reproduce as limited edition distinctive film art, all produced in their Central London studio.

The collection is aimed not just at Harry Potter fans, old and young, for which the prints would make delightful gifts, but also typographic aficionados, design lovers and people looking for a high quality and original print to hang on their walls.“The first generation of Harry Potter fans who grew up with the films are at that first home stage, and having outgrown the usual merchandise are looking for something genuine and authentic from the films to display in their homes - that touch of nostalgia presented in a more grown up way,” says Mina. “Equally,” says Lima, “ we've had emails from graphic design lovers in the past asking if they can buy props like the Daily Prophet because they've appreciated their unique graphic style.”

Fans of "Harry Potter" across the globe were invited to vote for their favorite artwork from a selection of eight beautiful images originally designed on the film set at Leavesden Film Studios, Hertfordshire England between 2000 and 2010. The most popular four prints as chosen by the fans now form The Printorium’s launch collection.

And the Winners Are:

THE MARAUDER’S MAP

The Marauders’ Map first appeared in "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban". Whilst the map interior evolved over subsequent films, the cover remained as it first featured and is reproduced here for the first time as a limited edition art print. Colors and design are based on the film prop produced for the film.
