C'est Magnifique! Paris Couture by Chanel
France- Paris | Jul 3 2012 | (23:07:48 - EDT)
Karl Lagerfeld swung open the Chanel vaults to unleash a nostalgique retrospective with a little something from every Coco-loving era: a twenties drop-waist tulle gown, a thirties bolero, silk tweed skirt suits from the fifties and sixties, silver sequined gowns edged in hot pink from the seventies...you get the idea. Aptly dubbed "New Vintage," the all-inclusive collection riffed on the classics whether modernizing nubby suiting with blown-out plaid and rolled-up sleeves or freshening up the quintessential French velvet Peter Pan-collared frock with shimmering tights and fingerless leather elbow gloves. Similarly, the nineties-tinged numbers (think silver column dresses) were jazzed up nicely with long and linear tweed vests in a blush and metallic combo. The tour de force? Lindsey Wixson gliding down the runway in a voluminous tulle 'n' feather wedding gown fit for any number of front row goers perched pretty in white wicker seating.
Paris Fashion Week will certainly be making global headlines with these beautiful designs from the best of the best in the innovative world of fashion.
