Swarovski to Exhibit Looks from Best Designers

Swarovski Elements has tapped stylist Kate Young to curate an exhibit of fall 2012 collections that showcase looks from some of fashion’s most well-known designers.

Exhibiting on Wednesday at the Museum of Modern Art in New York, Swarovski will unveil looks from Jason Wu, Christian Louboutin, Mary Kantrantzou, Jen Kao, Dannijo, Tom Binns, Rodarte and Creatures of the Wind.

The event design, led by Todd Shearer, will take place at the private dinning space at The Modern where the looks will be suspended in cube sculptures to mirror the aesthetic of the museum’s sculptural garden, which the room overlooks by way of a wall of 40-foot glass.

“I'm mainly inspired by the designers and the interesting ways they've played with Swarovski Elements,” Young said. “I selected my favorite pieces from the designers who worked with Swarovski for fall/winter ‘12. I absolutely love the embroideries on the Jason Wu pieces — I think the way he used crystal with mink and silk embroidery is innovative and beautiful. I also love how playful the Tom Binns pieces are, and I always love a sparkly shoe.”

In order to show how the crystals are incorporated into fashion, there will be crystal-encrusted iPads with runway footage from shows around the globe. Swarovski will has invited top brands in the luxury space to see how other designers are using their crystal. Confirmed designer attendees include Chris Peters of Creatures of The Wind, Marlon Gobel and Bibhu Mohapatra.
