UK- London | Oct 22 2012 | (23:12:32 - EDT)

Sally El Hosaini, director of her first feature film, "My Brother the Devil," co-produced by Film Clinic, won the Best British Newcomer award as director and screenwriter at the 56th London Film Festival 2012. The award was presented in partnership with Swarovski and honors new and emerging film talent, recognizing the achievements of a new writer, producer, director, actor or actress.

Olivia Colman and Tom Hiddleston presented the director/screenwriter Sally El Hosaini for her vibrant and original debut feature film. Jury president David Heyman said, "Sally El Hosiani's writing and direction displayed a remarkable maturity. The film transcended its genre with lyricism and tenderness and possessed a wonderful truth".

The film has already received the World Cinema Cinematography Award, for a dramatic movie, awarded toDavid Raedeker, Cinematographer of the film, at the Sundance Film Festival in January 2012. My Brother the Devil was co-produced by Mohamed Hefzy and Film Clinic along with producers Gayle Griffiths, Julia Godzinskaya, and Michael Sackler, and Sally El Hosaini. It was developed through the Sundance Screenwriters Lab and Sundance Director's Lab. The casts of the film are James Floyd, Said Taghmaoui, and Fady Elsayed.

"My Brother the Devil" is a film about two teenage British Arab brothers who learn the extraordinary courage it takes to prove yourself on the streets of gangland London. Telling the story of fourteen-year-old Mo, a lonely, sensitive boy whose hunger for the rant and banter of buddies makes him prone to tread dangerous territories.

He idolizes his handsome older brother, Rashid, a charismatic, well-respected member of a local gang, whose drug dealing enables "Rash" to provide for his family. Aching to be seen as a tough guy himself, Mo takes a job that unlocks a fateful turn of events and forces the brothers to confront their inner demons. It turns out that hate is easy. It is love and understanding that take real courage.
