The Personal, Untold Story of Ethel Kennedy

USA- Park City, UT | Oct 15 2012 | (23:45:00 - EDT)

‘Nightly News’ speaks with Ethel Kennedy and her daughter, Rory, on Tuesday, Oct. 16. NBC’s Brian Williams reports.

EYES IN Magazine's Editor-in-Chief attended the red carpet premiere of the documentary "Ethel", at the 2012 Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah and gave her review at that time regarding the personal, untold story of Ethel Kennedy.

With the upcoming interview broadcast tonight - the EYES IN Team would like to share this review with you again.

"The documentary "Ethel" is a true masterpiece that Rory Kennedy has created. Her love for filmmaking and her family could not have come together in a better way than in this documentary. It gives insight into two talents of two remarkable and powerful women, Ethel Kennedy and her youngest daughter Rory Kennedy. Movie viewers will laugh and cry at their very special and warm family life. Political achievements, tragedy, and facing life with so much faith are all ingredients from this documentary that shows us a beautiful part of the Kennedy history. Ethel Kennedy, for any women young or old, is an example of how positive energy can bring you very far.

As Ethel said in the documentary herself, 'Nobody gets a free ride.' I agree, but only a few know how to master the consequences of not having a free ride in such a driven, intelligent and amazing way. After seeing this documentary you will agree that life is worth living it to the fullest."

-Vivian van Dijk, Editor-in-Chief of EYES IN Magazine

"Ethel" is a feature length documentary about the remarkable life of Ethel Kennedy, told by those who know Ethel best: her family. Directed by daughter Rory Kennedy, the film features candid interviews with Ethel and seven of her children. Rory Kennedy is the youngest of the eleven children. The film is a personal portrait of Ethel's political awakening, the life she shared with Robert Kennedy, and the years following his dead when she raised their eleven children on her own. Intimate, funny, and deeply moving, Ethel offers a rare look inside a political dynasty strengthened by family bonds, a compassion for others, and a wisdom forged from both hardship and triumph.

Rory Kennedy is an award-winning producer, director and writer. She is co-founder of Moxie Firecracker Films, an independent documentary production. Kennedy has produced and/or directed documentaries for HBO, PBS, Lifetime Television, A&E, Court TV, The Oxygen Network and The Learning Channel, covering a variety of topics including the global AIDS crisis, human rights, domestic abuse, poverty, drug addiction, labor struggle and political corruption.
