Breathtaking Landscape Photos by Harry Cory Wright

UK- London | Aug 20 2012 | (23:04:33 - EDT)

It's like you're standing right next to him as he snaps the picture.

Harry Cory Wright is one of the country's leading landscape photographers. His work is internationally celebrated for its unique ability to pull the viewer into the heart of the landscape, from the vitality of tempestuous seascapes to still, intimate, inland spaces. While equally at home with both 35mm and medium format, Cory Wright's tool of choice is a large format 10x8 inch wooden Gandolfi plate camera.

His exquisitely detailed, subtly nuanced images - startling in their clarity - are sold in London, Paris, Tokyo and New York. Harry Cory Wright's work spans many genres of photography, from advertising (Conran, Dulux) to publishing (Saltwater), to public (Hospital Arts) and private commissions (Althorp); from gallery exhibitions (Sladmore Gallery, Groucho) to editorial work (Conde Naste, IPC, Telegraph, Independent and Times Magazines).

Harry works with a large format Gandolfi 10 x 8 inch wooden plate camera. He uses just a single 240mm lens, which is a medium wide angle. The tripod is the heaviest manfrotto studio tripod available. The apparatus is very heavy and moving around too much is difficult and often unnecessary. Photographing with this camera requires a combination of anticipation and patience. The film is standard negative emulsion, mostly Fuji. It is much the same as is used in standard small film cameras. The difference of course is in the size of the negative and the resultant level of detail.
