BarCamp 2012: Football Pro 13 App Creators Speak

USA- Tampa, FL | Oct 2 2012 | (22:58:17 - EDT)

Alex and Luis Perez, brothers born in Venezuela, have developed a number of applications for the Windows Phone Marketplace. Their company, Neuralnet, has 45 applications in the Marketplace and one just released on the Windows 8 platform.

They have well over 900,000 downloads and is one of the few companies to hit such a milestone. Their main focus is on consumer products such as sports and games, including a leading app, Football Pro 13 which is one of the top five sports applications since its release in Oct. 2011.

This success puts Neuralnet in a growing phase with creating jobs opportunities for illustrators, graphics designers and developers around Central Florida.

As a Partner with Microsoft, they are working on projects for next generation platforms including the Windows Phone 8, Windows 8 and the Xbox indie games Marketplace. Alex and Luis currently hold the Microsoft title "Developer Heroes."

Neuralnet, is an active company within the developer community. The brothers feel it is important to give back to the tech community with beta testing and guidelines, resources and talks about how to develop for the Microsoft ecosystem, on .Net Code Camps and Developers User Groups.

Alex and Luis came to the U.S. in 2001 and got their start developing in Silverlight (the first company in Central Floridato do so) and moved into developing for the Windows Phone 7 in Dec. 2010. Luis is a computer programmer and Alex is a Silverlight designer and marketing analyst, with the combined knowledge it was a natural fit for developing on the new platform.

Luis notes, "What we love to talk about is how to generate income within the new application ecosystem and why the web model is becoming a follower of the app model." Alex adds, "It is important to watch how the industry changes with this new factor and why it is important for developers to catch these changes quickly."

They also expect to talk about apps revenue models and the lessons learned in selling their apps at the BarCamp Code Camp Tampa event on Oct. 13, 2012.

Neuralnet started in 2008 as a consulting company providing all kinds of tech services to businesses. Alex is the designer who understands the limitations of the technology as he designs and Luis is the developer.

In Oct. 2010 they submitted their first app to the Windows Phone 7 Marketplace and in May of this year they shifted their entire business model to mobile development. They also develop for Android and iPhone but find the Windows Phone 7 platform has better opportunities.

About BarCamp:

BarCamp is an international network of user-generated conferences (or unconferences) primarily focused around technology and the Web. They are open, participatory workshop-events, the content of which is provided by participants. The first BarCamps focused on early-stage Web applications, and were related to open source technologies, social media, and open data formats.

About Code Camp:

The CodeCamp event creates a new type of community event where developers learn from fellow developers.  They also have developer related topics that include software branding, legal issues around software as well as other topics developers are interested in hearing about.

All are welcome to attend and speak. CodeCamp was designed by and for the developer community and never occurs during working hours. Sessions will range from informal "chalk talks" to presentations with a mix of presenters speaking on various topics of current interest.
