PlayGearz Lets Anyone Create Mobile Games

PlayGearz launches a new gaming platform where players can create their own mobile content. The first game to use PlayGearz is Yumby Smash. It goes live worldwide on the iPhone and iPad today and on the Kindle, Nook and Android devices over the next two weeks.
"We want to turn mobile gaming on its head,' says Steve Hoffman, CEO and Cofounder of PlayGearz. "Instead of professional level designers making all the content, we want to empower players to make their own games and share them with their friends!"
With PlayGearz Creator, the players can start building levels and playing them in a matter of minutes. Yumby Smash is the first game to take advantage of this new technology: "Yumby Smash rocks!' says Aaron Jones, Chief Architect and Cofounder of PlayGearz. "It's a beautifully simple game where you smash everything. Creating levels for this game is incredibly easy and fun."
"And Yumby Smash is just the tip of the iceberg,' adds Andy Riedel, CTO and Cofounder of PlayGearz. "What we're building is a mass-market creative community. We want everyone from kids to hardcore gamers creating with PlayGearz."
With Yumby Smash, players will be able to acquire new building blocks and make levels that go way beyond what's included in the original game. Each new pack of building blocks will include objects that redefine how the game is played, making the user-generated levels far more compelling and engaging.
The entire PlayGearz Platform is tied into Facebook, so when players create levels, they can alert their friends and challenge them to matches.
"Pinterest, YouTube and Facebook have all leveraged the creativity of their users to create content. We're doing the same for mobile games," says Riedel. "And we can't wait to see where this takes us!"
PlayGearz is a mobile games studio located in San Francisco, California. PlayGearz has an experienced team with top talent from Zynga, and Kabam, Sega. PlayGearz develops and publishes apps and games for Apple's iPhone and iPad on iOS 6, as well as Google's Android, Amazon's Kindle Fire, Facebook, and Barnes & Noble Nook.
