eDreams Seals its Commitment to Going Mobile

Spain- Barcelona | Oct 27 2012 | (23:15:50 - EDT)

The leading online travel agency in Southern Europe, eDreams consolidates its commitment to going mobile, launching its new free iPhone app in 38 countries. With this new app, the company aims to achieve the same success in  mobile commerce as it has already achieved as a leader in  the online market.

Aware of the rapid deployment of smartphones and the advantages that the mobile channel offers travelers, the eDreams technological innovation team has developed this new app, which allows users to book safely and access travel itineraries anytime, anywhere.

Ultrafast, intuitive and easy to use, the new eDreams iPhone app has been designed to ensure an excellent user experience, giving the visitor all the services of an online  travel agency from their mobile phone. Available in the App Store, with this new application the customer can easily find flights and filter the results to select the one that best suits their needs in a simple and instantaneous way.

In addition, the new app, compatible with all versions of iPhone, including the latest model iPhone 5 and the new OS iOS6 allows the user to contact the eDreams call center, with a team of over 100 people at their disposal for any questions or issues. Available in 7 languages: Spanish, French, Italian, German, Turkish, Portuguese and English, the new app also allows you to share information about the flight purchased via mail, Facebook and Twitter.

"One of the most innovative features of this new application," says co-founder and Chief Marketing Officer of eDreams, Mauricio Prieto, "is the flight notification service, which includes all flight updates: from changes and cancellations to, gate terminal, baggage claim and climatological information of the destination. " The new app also includes a geolocation system that facilitates the traveler information about the airports, and saves passengers data and the search history to facilitate future purchases.

It is to be noted that this is the first version of the application but in the coming months several updates will be performed.

"This is a tremendously useful application for travelers," says Prieto, "with a single click on your smartphone, you can activate our search engine- which processes over 400 requests to our providers and analyzes more than 160,000 route and price combinations per second-and get the optimized results for your search criteria, quickly andcomfortably, with prices up to 70% cheaper than traditional agencies or the airlines themselves."Note that this is the first version of the application but in the coming months there will be several updates.

"The mobile channel has opened a new world of possibilities for the tourism industry and the need to explore it if you want to be competitive in this industry," said Prieto. "eDreams, as a leading online travel agency in Southern Europe, invests millions of euros a year in cutting-edge technologies to stay ahead of technological innovation not only in the field of e-commerce but also in mobile-commerce, and to improve the service we offer to our clients, being available anytime and from anywhere, " he adds. Thanks to this, eDreams sales through mobile devices, including smartphones and tablets, have increased more than 120% in the last year in its traditional markets (Spain, France, UK, Germany and Italy).

The online travel agency, which has been present in the mobile channel since last year with its HTML5 webapp and also with a specific app for Windows Phone, completes the first phase of its strategic plan for mobility with this new release, that in  the medium term, includes the development of new applications for other operating systems, both mobile and tablets.
