Artist Nicholas Berger Captures NYC's Historic Waterfront
Inspired by images and movies of New York’s waterfront during the middle of the 20th century, Berger was determined and succeeded to capture the spirit of the bustling piers and waterways in the vein of New York City’s great Impressionist painters. His goal with this series is to convey a way of life that is in large part disappearing, a life centered on hard work in a developing city. Nicholas Berger is a listed artist whose work is held in many public and private collections. This exhibition showcases Berger’s newest series of work, oil paintings of New York City’s historic waterfront. Inspired by early images and movies of New York’s waterfront during the first half of the 20th century, Berger was determined to capture the spirit of the bustling piers and waterways in the vein of New York City’s great Impressionist painters. His goal with this series was to convey a way of life that is in large part disappearing, a life centered on hard work in a newly developing city.
