Eyes in Culinary - Pio Boffa, his Winery and the SB Food and Wine Festival

Biography

He was born in Alba on December 13th 1954.

He's the third-born child of Ing. Boffa Giuseppe and his wife Mrs Rosy Pio the grand daughter of Cesare Pio founder of the Winery.

Pio, who's the 4th generation of Pio CESARE's Family, attended the classical senior high school in Alba where he graduated in 1972.

He attended the Business Economics University in Turin with great results; before he took his degree, his father asked him to start working at the Winery.

This was the beginning of his Business adventure in the Family Winery.

He started from the very beginning to travel around the world, visiting the most important Wineries, attending stages in the different wine area in California and France.

In 1972 he spent 3 months in California, working during the harvest for Mondavi Winery together with Robert's sons. Pio loves to consider this experience as "the experience of his life".

Pio is proud of having shared with his father the management of the Winery until the death of his father on December 2000 and he considers his father his greatest mentor.

Innovator but traditionalist. He has introduced all the most modern technologies to Winery, wishing to keep the style of his wines as close as possible to the style of the wines produced by his father and his grandfather 50 years ago.
